Art of Matt Jones

I've always believed that great stories have the power to stay with us long after we've turned the last page.

 

I earned my degree in animation with dreams of creating memorable characters and meaningful stories. Life, however, took me down a different path. For more than two decades I've worked as a graphic designer, developing visual communication skills while never letting go of my passion for illustration, animation, and storytelling.

 

Today, I'm returning to those original roots.

My work is inspired by Disney Animation, expressive drawing, and the belief that every character should feel alive with personality, emotion, and purpose. Whether I'm sketching from life, studying animals, or developing children's book illustrations, I'm always searching for stronger storytelling through drawing.

I am currently creating Running with Giants, an illustrated children's chapter book about an overprotective rabbit who must overcome fear to save his daughter in a world ruled by predators. It's a story about courage, resilience, and discovering that true strength isn't the absence of fear, its choosing to move forward despite it.
